  • SeasonTypically mid-June to early September

Camp names and day counts flex with river crossings, landslides, and health. Your final field plan is confirmed in Skardu after a crew briefing — the outline below is the operating template.

Day-by-day — landing to takeoff

  • Day 1

Land ISB · Fly Skardu (KDU) · Hotel

    Meals: — / L* / DOvernight: Skardu hotel
    • Landing: Meet at ISB; transfer to domestic terminal for Skardu flight.
    • Flight: ISB → KDU. Mountain flights cancel often — if delayed, we hold ISB day-room/hotel and push the whole itinerary (extra nights pre-quoted as contingency).
    • KDU arrival: Driver meets you; transfer to hotel; rest; light bazaar walk if energy allows.
    • Evening: Welcome dinner; medical/fitness self-check reminder; no alcohol binge before altitude.
  • Day 2

Skardu prep — gear, permits, crew meet

    Meals: B / L / DOvernight: Skardu hotel
    • Morning: Full gear check with guide (boots, layers, sleeping bag rating, duffel vs daypack). Hire/buy gaps in bazaar.
    • Admin: Permits / trek paperwork processed by operations; passport copies collected as required.
    • Afternoon: Optional Shangrila / Satpara easy outing for legs and photos — not a hard day.
    • Evening: Meet sirdar/guide team; brief on Askole jeep, porter loads (personal weight limits), camp routine, radio/sat plan; early sleep.
  • Day 3

Jeep Skardu → Askole (last road)

    Meals: B / L / DOvernight: Camp near Askole / Jhula corridor
    • Morning: Load jeeps; long valley drive toward Askole (often 6–8+ hrs depending on road cuts and water).
    • Stops: Lunch en route; photo/rest; crew manages porter hiring finalisation at trailhead.
    • Evening: First expedition camp — tents, mess tent, toilet tent; trek brief for tomorrow’s stage; boil/filter water routine starts.
  • Day 4

Askole → Jhola / Korophon corridor

    Meals: B / L / D (camp)Overnight: Camp
    • Trek: First walking day along Braldu valley trails — river roar, village edge, gradual load-out rhythm.
    • Pace: Guide sets stage length to conditions; porters move ahead to pitch camp.
    • Evening: Hot drinks, dinner, foot care clinic (blisters now save days later).
  • Day 5

    Trek to Paiju

    Meals: B / L / D (camp)Overnight: Paiju camp
    • Day: Approach the Baltoro snout views; Paiju is the classic last “green” camp before full glacier travel.
    • Afternoon: Rest; optional short acclimatisation stroll; gear reorganise for moraine days.
    • Evening: Weather/glacier briefing; early night.
  • Day 6

    Paiju rest / acclimatisation (built-in)

    Meals: B / L / D (camp)Overnight: Paiju
    • Purpose: Legs, lungs, and crew logistics before the ice. Short hikes only.
    • If weather forces: This day may shift later — flexibility is part of Baltoro reality.
  • Day 7

Onto the Baltoro — toward Khoburtse / Urdukas sector

    Meals: B / L / D (camp)Overnight: Glacier camp (Khoburtse or similar)
    • Day: Moraine walking begins — uneven rock, slow miles, big peak walls rising.
    • Safety: Follow guide line on loose sections; poles recommended; no side exploring alone.
  • Day 8

    Trek to Urdukas

    Meals: B / L / D (camp)Overnight: Urdukas
    • Day: Classic Baltoro stage to Urdukas — grassy shelves above the ice, Trango Towers drama on clear days.
    • Evening: Sunset photography if weather allows; dinner; sleep.
  • Day 9

    Urdukas → Goro II

    Meals: B / L / D (camp)Overnight: Goro II
    • Day: Longer glacier travel day toward Goro II — cold, bright, exposed. Sun protection and layers critical.
    • Camp: Full glacier camp; expect colder nights.
  • Day 10

    Goro II → Concordia

    Meals: B / L / D (camp)Overnight: Concordia
    • Day: Arrive Concordia — junction of Baltoro & Godwin-Austen; Broad Peak, Gasherbrums, and K2 on the skyline when clear.
    • Afternoon: Tent pitch; rest; orientation to next day’s K2 BC push.
    • Evening: Coldest nights of the trip — sleeping bag and insulating pad matter.
  • Day 11

Concordia · K2 Base Camp day

    Meals: B / L / D (camp)Overnight: Concordia (or BC if conditions dictate)
    • Day hike: Guided push toward K2 Base Camp / Godwin-Austen views — out-and-back from Concordia as conditions allow.
    • Turnaround: Guide owns weather and crevasse-risk calls; summit photos of K2 from safe viewpoints, not reckless side trips.
    • Evening: Celebration meal at Concordia; rest for reverse journey.
  • Day 12

Weather / health buffer at Concordia

    Meals: B / L / D (camp)Overnight: Concordia
    • If Day 11 socked in: Use this day for the K2 BC attempt.
    • If Day 11 succeeded: Rest or begin earlier descent depending on group and forecast.
    • This buffer is why the trip is listed as 18–21 days, not a fixed 14.
  • Days 13–16

Return Baltoro — Goro · Urdukas · Paiju · Askole

    Meals: B / L / D (camp)Overnight: Camps on descent
    • Plan: Retrace stages with tired legs — guide shortens or lengthens days for swollen rivers and porter welfare.
    • Typical sequence: Concordia → Goro → Urdukas → Paiju → Askole corridor (exact splits weather-dependent).
    • Focus: Knees, hydration, no heroics on loose moraine.
  • Day 17

Askole → Jeep to Skardu · Hot shower

    Meals: B / L / DOvernight: Skardu hotel
    • Morning: Final pack-out; jeep return to Skardu (road hours variable).
    • Afternoon: Hotel check-in; laundry; real bed; debrief with guide.
    • Evening: Celebration dinner in town.
  • Days 18–19

    Skardu buffers · Soft recovery

    Meals: B / L / DOvernight: Skardu
    • Purpose: Flight cancellations out of KDU are common after expeditions — do not book tight same-day internationals.
    • Options: Shangrila / Satpara easy day, sleep, massage if available, gear dry-out.
    • Extra buffer nights beyond this are held as optional contingency in your quote.
  • Day 20–21

    KDU → ISB · Takeoff / onward

Meals: B / L*Overnight: — (or ISB hotel if international is next day)
    • Morning: Transfer to Skardu Airport; fly KDU → ISB when the mountain weather releases the runway.
    • ISB: Meet on arrival; transfer to international terminal or overnight hotel.
    • Takeoff: Farewell; we stay on WhatsApp until you are airside for your international departure.
    • If KDU stays closed, we extend Skardu hotels and rebook — expedition quotes include this operational reality.
